Melanie is a Civil Designer for Archer-Elgin having began her design drafting career early by attending the Rolla Technical Institute part-time during her junior and senior year in high school. When she graduated from high school, she had acquired 1,000 hours in mechanical and architectural drafting education. She went on to State Technical College of Missouri, Linn, Missouri and graduated in 1990 with an Associate of Technology degree in Design Drafting. Upon graduating, Melanie began her professional design drafting career with an engineering firm in the Camdenton, Missouri area. In 2004, Melanie started working for Archer Elgin, (formerly Elgin Surveying & Engineering, Inc.).
Melanie has expertise in drafting subdivision plats, boundary surveys and topographic surveys. She has experience in design drafting plans for various public infrastructure systems including water supply and distribution and wastewater treatment plants and collections systems.
Melanie was born and raised in Rolla, Missouri, the youngest of two children, and is a graduate of Rolla High School. After graduating from Linn Tech and moving to the Camdenton area, Melanie made the decision to move back to the Rolla area to be closer to family.
Melanie has family ties to England – her grandfather met and married her British-born grandmother while serving in the United States Army. She has visited her extended family in England and stays connected to her British heritage by listening to British radio while working on her drafting design plans and documents. Melanie is an avid reader and says she likes to read just about anything. Melanie is dedicated to living a simple and uncomplicated life – something many people strive to do and one she has successfully mastered.
